Lead Pool Designer (Remote – Florida-Based)

Full-Time – SunSmart Engineering 

 

SunSmart Engineering is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for an experienced Lead Pool Designer to oversee and elevate our swimming pool and spa division. We design and provide turn-key permit plans for pools, solar systems, screen enclosures, structural components, roofing, and more. With expanding contractor partnerships and increasing demand across Florida, we need a skilled leader to guide our pool design efforts and ensure technical excellence across every project.

This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned pool professional with a strong technical foundation who is ready to lead, mentor, and take ownership of all swimming pool and spa design within the company. You’ll work directly with licensed Professional Engineers while overseeing design production and quality control across residential and commercial projects.

 

What You’ll Do:

➢ Lead the design and drafting of residential and commercial swimming pools and spas

➢ Oversee all pool and spa projects from initial concept through permit-ready plan sets

➢ Provide technical guidance and quality control for other pool designers

➢ Develop detailed structural, plumbing, and electrical layouts for aquatic systems

➢ Perform and review Total Dynamic Head (TDH) calculations for hydraulic system design

➢ Specify and coordinate all industry-standard pool equipment and system components

➢ Research and apply applicable building codes and industry standards

➢ Collaborate directly with licensed Professional Engineers for final review and sealing

➢ Maintain drafting standards and design consistency using AutoCAD

 

What We’re Looking For:

➢ Minimum 3 years of experience designing residential and commercial swimming pools and spas

➢ Strong understanding of structural, hydraulic, plumbing, and electrical aspects of pool and spa design

➢ Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting complete permit-ready plan sets

➢ Deep knowledge of building codes and standards as they apply to aquatic construction

➢ Working knowledge of Total Dynamic Head (TDH) calculations

➢ Familiarity with all major pool equipment manufacturers and system configurations

➢ Proficiency Microsoft Office, especially Excel

➢ Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee and mentor other designers

➢ Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality control

➢ Based in Florida (remote position)

➢ Engineering degree is a plus but not required
